​Si me ahogo en tus julios

Actualmente enseño Interpretación y Español para los campos médicos y educativo, en San Diego State University. ¿Qué escribo? Cuentos, poemas, crónica, micro ficción, guiones. Dirijo Olas Civiles (revista electrónica) donde soy autora de las columnas El ojo en el muro y La Ruda. Tengo licenciatura en Ciencia Política por la Universidad Estatal de San Diego –SDSU-; y maestría y doctorado en letras y estudios culturales por la Universidad de California, San Diego -UCSD y estudios de escritura de guión por la Universidad de California, Los Ángeles -UCLA. He sido intérprete (por mis venas corre el arrojo de Malinche) lexicógrafa, editora, reportera, columnista, conductora de radio, fotógrafa, papelera, orfebre, ilustradora, mamá soltera, activista, profesora, museógrafa, diseñadora, culturalista… Mil usos que echa mano de cuanto talento –la buena cocina y habilidad tejedora de Eloísa, las virtudes negociadoras de Dolores Rojo, los talentos didácticos de Carmen Zamacona y Carmen Terrazas, las dotes de estratega e inventiva sin freno de dos tatarabuelos, la magia alquímica de padre y la facilidad de palabra de madre, la paciencia de mi hijo y el arrojo de mi hija… Sigo la vena periodística de varios de la familia, convencida que si es difícil “vivir” del periodismo, más lo es “morir” de él… o morir-morir sin él. Está por salir mi libro Río que reúne mi obra poética “postdoctoral” (es decir, de cuando empieza la vida).
 
I currently teach Interpretation and Spanish for the Medical and Educational Fields at San Diego State University. What do I write? I write short stories, poems, chronicles, micro fiction, and scripts. I direct Olas Civiles (electronic journal) and pen the columns El ojo en el muro and La Ruda. I have a BA in Political Science from San Diego State University –SDSU-; a PhD and MA in Literature and Cultural Studies from the University of California, San Diego –UCSD-, and studied script writing from The University of California, Los Angeles –UCLA-. I have been an interpreter (Malinche’s daring attitude runs in my veins) lexicographer, editor, reporter, columnist, radio anchor, photographer, paper maker, jewelry maker, illustrator, single mother, activist, professor, museographer, designer, and cultural critic… I am just a weird brew of multitalented-intellectual-labor who uses Eloisa´s gourmet cooking and skilled knitting; the negotiating powers of Dolores Rojo; the didactic talents of Carmen Zamacona and Carmen Terrazas; the gift of strategist and untamed inventive of two great grand parents; the magic alchemy of my father, the gift of speech of my mother, the patience of my son, and the daring nature of my daughter. I got the journalistic call of many in the family, convinced that if it is hard to be a journalist, it is both harder to die of it or to die without it. My book Río, an anthology of my postdoctoral poetic work (that is my work from the real start of my life), is about to come out
