Peregrinos y sus Letras/FEXAM Cultural Center: A New Chapter, Alliance, the Same Commitment to Words and Art
Welcome to Peregrinos y sus Letras!
We begin a new chapter, honoring the living memory of its founder and general editor, David A. Muñoz (1959–2020), who dedicated his life to promoting writing and the arts in all their forms. His greatest wish was to create a literary space without borders or linguistic barriers—open to every voice across the United States and Ibero-America.
Today, that legacy continues thanks to the magazine’s cultural donation to Arizona State University (ASU) and, since 2023, under the editorial leadership of FEXAM Cultural Center—a nonprofit organization committed to fostering cultural awareness and artistic expression. At FEXAM, we believe that art has the power to transform, connect, and elevate community life. We create spaces where authentic, purposeful, and human-centered artistic expression flows freely, encompassing literature, music, theater, film, sculpture, photography, and more.

As Mireya Carpinteyro Muñoz, David’s wife, expressed:
"It is my hope that, as long as there is breath in your life, David’s prolific example and disciplined spirit will continue beating in your hearts, reaching many new generations to come."
We continue walking with that inspiration... and “A escribir se ha dicho”.
Peregrinos y sus letras is an organization whose purpose is to promote the literary work of all Hispanic writers in the areas of Chicano literature written in Spanish, English, bilingual, Spanglish, and various others. This also includes the work of artists, and musicians providing a platform to present their work.
Knowing our reality as immigrants leaving our own land to seek new opportunities, Peregrinos y sus letras recognizes new forms of literary, artistic and musical expressions. There is a wide array of colleagues around the world who are creating new trends and styles in literature. Hence, traditional genres are broken to create new literary myths that will likely be studied by future generations.
Through this portal we continue showcasing the work of each and every author wherever their place of origin, ideology, literary and artistic creativity in the United States of America. Every year we will continue organizing tributes to writers according to the criterion of our organizing committee. This is to recognize their work that may have been overlooked by mainstream organizations.
In addition, we will continue publishing literary writings that go from poetry, short stories, and essays highlighting the creative element which we consider vital as the saying goes: “Words
become windows of our thought.”
¡A escribir se ha dicho!
